Teasing, back combing, French lacing, cushioning the hair are all very similar just different degrees of packing the hair into the root area to create stronger hold in the finished hairstyle. If you grew up when shampoos and sets were hot you should know how to make this work. For those of you who did not grow up when shampoos and sets were hot, well lucky you, this article may be of use.
- Step 1- Section the hair so that you have control of the section to be back combed
- Step 2- Spray, the hair to be back combed, with hairspray to give it texture.
- Step 3- Starting with small sections (approximately ½” thick and no longer than half the comb length), using the fine teeth of your comb and a scooping direction moving the comb through the hair from 2” away from scalp to the scalp.
- Step 4
At the scalp area press the comb firmly against the scalp packing the hair.
-
Step 5- When the section is completed spray with hairspray & let dry
-
Step 6- Use a finishing brush to smooth out the hair on the surface of the back combing, use a light touch.
